The Social Registration Form is now posted and ready for use. If you want to download, *right* click on the link. Flotilla Commanders are asked to download this file, review it, and get the information needed from members without Web access that want to attend one of the Social fundtions. Fill out the form (using Adobe Reader 7 or newer) and click the EMAIL button. The completed form will be sent to Mary Cottrell, COMO Wes Cottrell's wife, who has offered to take care of entering the member's request into the web site. If you have problems with this form, please let me (Bud) know. A reminder: Registration for Training for those without Web access is being handled by Jay Croy.

Our Webmaster, Dan Stearns, reports that all issues he is aware of have been addressed and the website is functioning as designed. Please let Bud or Dan know if you encounter problems.
Due to the generous offer of Senior Chief (retired) Tom Rau, "Boat Stupid Tricks- a Call for Mandatory Education" will be the new theme of the luncheon on Friday. Many of you know him as author of "Boat Smart Chronicles", a terrific compilation of stories he had provided to news organizations during his service at stations on Lake Michigan. Awards planned to have been presented at the luncheon will now be given at other gatherings.
The Activity section now allows non-members to register for social activities. Attendees that do not want to use Paypal now have the option of pre-paying with a check to Ron View, finance manager for the Symposium. His address information is provided on the registration receipt the registrant receives after completing the process. Also implemented are the ability to edit user information via the “Edit User Account Details” link, and to unregister for classes via the “Access Registration Details” link. Other helpful actions have been added in various Registration areas.
As space is limited for sessions, members are encouraged to register early. The QE session is now at capacity and other sessions will start filling up soon!
FCs:
Please provide to me,Bud Nusly, contact information for members who do not have Web access that want to register for Social activities. A Social Activities form will be available soon for download to help you gather the required information so that we can enter their requests.

Please try your best to make sure every member is brought up to date with this and future messages, especially if they do not have web access. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend, and those on the committees are making a concerted effort to be inclusive of everyone.
SOCIAL
As of this afternoon, 23 February, the Symposium web site now offers the ability to register for social activities. As with training reservations, login uses the member's number and their password from the eDirectory (more below on that). Those wanting to attend the planned activities that are not members will be able to login without a member number, but as of today this is not yet implemented. Expect to see that capability very soon.
TRAINING
For a couple of weeks, members have been able to register for training sessions. There have been numerous difficulties, mostly due to browser differences. The Webmaster, Dan Stearns reports that most issues have been resolved. If problems persist, please let Dan know.
In that there have been hiccups, members who want to confirm that they are, indeed, registered for a particular session can login and then check the Access Registration Details link on the members page.
Okay, so just exactly why have we decided to implement on-line registration for training sessions? The reason has to do with limited resources and guesses at what members want to see. Often times, an instructor and classroom are set aside that are either 1) not attended by more than a handful of folks or 2) attended by more than the room can accommodate. What if an instructor has to cancel? How can we let the prospective attendees know? What if the session is at capacity? Should an additional session be offered if possible? Pre-registering will help the MT staff respond proactively instead of having to put out fires at the last minute. Most of you are accustomed to deciding what sessions to attend based on the schedule you would receive when you arrived at a conference. Are we trying to do away with that? NO! You're still welcome to come, but if capacity has been reached you may not be able to get in.
eDirectory
Those of you that have not used the eDirectory in the past will find it a very user-friendly tool. From this resource, you can find any member's email address that has one in AUXDATA. Logging in also allows you to verify that your email address in AUXDATA is correct. If it isn't, contact your IS officer using ANSC-7028 to make the correction.
The real beauty of the system is the ability to use login information to access other Auxiliary sites that would otherwise have to build and maintain their own user names and passwords. Once you have registered in the eDirectory your member number and password become available to the other sites, including districtnine.org.

AUX-SC&E, AUX-12, AMLOC:
AUX-SC&E is full. According to our registration information, there are four spots open for AUX-12 and AMLOC. Contact your FC NOW! if you are interested in either of these classes.
FCs:
Please do everything you can to provide information about the Symposium to members who do not have Internet access. If they want to register for a session, please provide their member number and desired classes to Jay Croy who will be the point of contact.
Registration for Social Activities:
As of today, registration is not yet implemented for the Friday Awards Luncheon, the Friday evening offerings, or the Grand Ball. When we are ready to accept registrations, a notice will be posted on this page.

Some basic information.
As you already know since you've navigated to this site, all registrations for both training sessions and social activities will be made through this site. Members will need to have a login that they've chosen through the national eDirectory. Once you have that information, you will be able to log in to the reservations area to make your choices.
An explanation of what you can and cannot do.
You cannot register for the Coast Guard funded sessions here. These are AUX-SC&E, AUX-12, etc. These courses need to have a Short Term Training Request submitted through the normal channels. See your Member Training officer for more information. You can register for all other activities. However, if you are NOT a member (i.e.: Active Duty Coast Guard, civilian invitees, etc.) you will have to send a request to one of us to register you.
If you have problems
Please report them using the "Contact Us" selections. One of us will respond ASAP (within 24 hours) with a solution to your problem.
